The unnecessary waste of good material was the trigger for the following coffee table, or side table.
The customer's desire for a knot-free and straight structure of the wood used in furniture construction generates vast amounts of leftover wood, which is usually processed into charcoal or firewood. We work closely with one of these „charcoal companies“ and regularly purchase leftover wood there, which we have processed into beautiful coffee tables, side tables, and also dining tables.
In this coffee table side table, the root area of the teak tree was used. The distinctive structure of the root wood brings a stunning appearance.

The tree discs, which are between 5 and 8 cm thick, stand on three table legs made of raw steel. Optionally, we offer this coffee table side table on table legs made of raw steel, matte black lacquered in heights of 30 cm and 40 cm. Additionally, table legs of the shown type are also available in brushed stainless steel in our portfolio. All tables from our company are handcrafted by small family businesses on Java in Indonesia. We exclusively use leftover wood that cannot be used in industrial furniture manufacturing, recycled wood, and wood from fruit trees that we purchase under the supervision of local communities from private ownership. At „GERKEN W,“ the use of tropical wood is completely avoided.
