Dining tables made from recycled wood, sustainability with desired dimensions

All Custom tables from our house are produced absolutely sustainably. The teak wood used comes from demolished buildings and bridges on the islands of Java and Bali. Contrary to popular belief, freshly cut teak wood is also sustainable, yet it differs significantly from old wood and is therefore not used for our custom dining tables. The furniture made today from fresh teak wood is almost exclusively made from plantation wood. The teak wood from Indonesia was once introduced by colonial rulers and cultivated instead of bamboo. Teak wood has been used worldwide in shipbuilding for centuries. Due to the rapid growth, newly harvested teak wood is difficult to compare in strength and structure with old teak wood. Fresh teak wood is less resistant to parasites and has a softer wood structure. Also, in terms of color, fresh teak wood is easily distinguishable from old teak wood. Young teak wood has a wide sapwood area, and the heartwood also appears lighter in color. For this reason, many manufacturers of teak wood furniture like to use stains and varnishes to give the teak wood its naturally brown-red color. With the teak wood we use for our Dining tables made to measure thus you acquire a better wood quality than with fresh wood.
