Lychee has probably been cultivated as a fruit and medicinal plant since around 1500 BC and spread from China through Southeast Asia to Australia, Israel, and Florida. Its fruits are becoming increasingly popular here – in comparison to Europe, Germany consumes the second most lychees. However, the situation is different for the wood of old lychee trees that no longer produce enough fruit. Due to the enormous hardness of the wood, it is difficult to process and is mostly turned into charcoal. However, those who, like us, make this effort receive a stylish and almost indestructible table. For this, we cut a slice lengthwise from a solid tree trunk, which retains its natural tree edge. Individual glass inlays are then handcrafted into the naturally grown cavities of the tree. Together with a high-quality stainless steel frame, you get a table at which many future generations will sit.
