A dining table or coffee table made of teak wood with an oiled or waxed surface indoors requires regular but uncomplicated care to maintain its appearance and longevity. Here are the most important care tips:
Care instructions for teak wood surfaces (oiled or waxed, indoors)
1. Daily cleaning – Wipe the surface regularly with a slightly damp, soft cloth. Avoid microfiber cloths as they can cause fine scratches. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents – a mild, pH-neutral cleaner is completely sufficient.
2. Avoid stains – Liquids (e.g., wine, juice, oil) should be wiped up immediately as they can penetrate the wood and cause stains. Alternatively, you can coat the surface with a special water-based furniture lacquer to achieve a resistant surface. Please contact us if needed. Use coasters for glasses, cups, or vases.
3. Refreshing with care oil or wax – Depending on usage, treat the wood with a high-quality teak oil or wood care wax about 1–2 times a year. Before oiling or waxing: First, clean the surface. If there are scratches on the surface, they can be sanded down with fine sandpaper. Remove dust before treatment. Apply oil/wax thinly, let it soak in, and wipe off excess material with a cloth.
4. Consider room climate – A consistent room climate (ideally 18–22 °C at 40–60% humidity) protects the wood from cracking or warping.
Care tip: We still remember from grandma,... she always had a bottle of Poliboy in the cupboard for her furniture. Just put some care product on a cloth and wipe the table with it. Very simple!
