The design of the coffee table „Deep Island“ was a conscious decision for traditional craftsmanship and high-quality precision. The focus in developing this model was to preserve the history of the reclaimed wood used while creating a modern design. The solid tabletop, made from glued solid wood planks with a thickness of approx. 8 cm, showcases the original structure of the wood, which has been highlighted through manual brushing.

It was particularly important to not hide the traces of the past but to deliberately integrate them into the design. Wooden dowels and wooden inlays emphasized previous signs of use and were further developed into design elements. The glass inlays add another accent by allowing a view into the interior of the tabletop and giving the table additional depth.

The table frame also plays an essential role in the design process. The crescent shape made of raw steel, crafted with artisanal precision, gives the table a clear, industrial aesthetic. Through the final finishing in industrial design, the frame acquires its distinctive character and harmoniously rounds off the high-quality overall picture.

The design of the table „Deep Island“ originated from the idea of combining sustainability, craftsmanship, and high-quality design in a piece of furniture. With its dimensions of 250 x 100 cm, it offers enough space for up to 8 – 10 people and becomes the centerpiece of every social gathering.

For the massive tabletop, old wood from demolished traditional houses in Java and Bali was deliberately chosen. With an impressive thickness of 9 to 10 cm, the wood tells its own story and brings a piece of past craftsmanship into modern living spaces. The surface is complemented by handcrafted glass inlays, which were specifically incorporated to provide a glimpse into the depth of the tabletop – a detail that further emphasizes the individual character of the table.

The frame made of raw steel was crafted in a cross design and received a vintage look finish. This frame not only gives the table the necessary stability but also creates a striking contrast to the warm appearance of the old wood.
