This Solid wood coffee table is a wonderful example to show you what can be done with reclaimed wood. The tabletop for the coffee table was handcrafted from solid wood from an old teak tree stump. The existing tree edges were not artificially processed but left in their original form to highlight the grain of the solid wood tree root. The gaps created between the tree slices were also hand-decorated with various glass inlays, allowing a view of the natural tree edges. The table frame is made of brushed stainless steel and forms a perfect symbiosis between the used basic elements of solid wood, glass, and steel.

The success of our coffee tables and dining tables speaks for itself. For many years, the furniture from GERKEN Wohndesign has set a new standard in design trends. In our online shop „Der Tischonkel“ and in our exhibition in East Frisia Detern we always offer you hundreds of great ideas to personalize your home. All furniture is made from recycled wood and/or waste wood. We fundamentally do not use protected wood species and thus contribute to the preservation of the global climate. In our opinion, solid wood should not consist of beautiful tropical woods,… the availability,… AND the beauty of recycled wood is virtually unlimited.
At this point, we would also like to mention that the use of recycled wood saves up to 1000 kg of carbon dioxide per cubic meter. Since recycled solid wood is classified as unusable by the industry, this wood is used in the countries of origin for cooking and making charcoal.
