Old wood is a wonderful material!
The recycled old wood used for the sustainable dining table "Fusion" comes from old demolished houses and bridges on the islands of Java and Bali. Traditional houses are renewed every fourth generation, and a new house is built for the entire family. Often, four to five generations live under one roof in these houses. The wood could certainly tell fascinating stories.
After demolition, the collected old wood is sorted piece by piece by experienced craftsmen. For our dining tables made of old wood, only the corner posts and the rough construction wood of the houses can be used.
The tabletop consists of glued solid wood beams, which are glued, planed, and sanded entirely by hand. Features from the previous use as construction wood are carefully filled with additional wood pieces. Afterwards, the tabletop is lightly brushed to emphasize the wood's texture and sealed with a neutral furniture wax. The dining table is supported by a table base in the shape of a half moon. The use of stainless steel gives the table its distinctive look.
Every component of this dining table is created with artistic craftsmanship.
Example: Dining Table "Fusion" in size 400 × 100–140 cm
Note: The used old wood comes from demolished houses and bridges on the islands of Java and Bali. The tabletops are prefabricated on site by a small family business and refurbished and sealed after arrival in our in-house workshop. Of course, attention is paid to the naturalness of the waxes used.
Of course, all dining tables, living room tables, and design tables offered by Tischonkel can be viewed in our showroom in Detern (East Frisia).
