Tree Trunk Coffee Table from the "Lakeside" Series – Unique Piece Made from Old Teak Roots

This handcrafted tree trunk coffee table combines the authenticity of decades-old teak wood with a modern design concept. The solid wood tabletop was made from two connected tree slices, originating from old tree stumps on the island of Java. With a thickness of 7.5 cm, a length of 133 cm, and a varying width of approx. 82 to 94 cm, this piece of furniture is not only robust but also visually impressive. The total height is 48 cm.
The teak wood comes from reforestation areas. The trees were felled there 30 to 50 years ago to harvest teak wood for export. The root areas and tree stumps were left in the ground – until today. Now these old wood remnants are being removed to make room for new forests. At the same time, valuable raw materials for furniture are created, which are processed by hand in our workshop.
Characteristic for this coffee table are the natural growths, inclusions, and weathering marks that have developed over decades. These special features have been deliberately preserved, carefully worked on, and connected with custom glass inlays that allow a clear view into the interior of the old wood.
The surface was finely sanded and then sealed with high-quality furniture wax to protect the structure and preserve the naturalness of the wood.
